“La Corsa dei Ceri” of Gubbio takes place on the eve of the feast of the patron St. Ubaldo, dates back to 1160 and has never been interrupted. The “Ceri” are three gigantic wooden structures of about four tons and more than four meters high, surmounted by statues of St. Ubaldo, St. George and St. Anthony. The day of the festival are carried on the shoulders of “Ceraioli” trough the streets of the city to the difficult and arduous ascent of Mount Ingino, where the Basilica of the Patron rises. The “Ceri” of Gubbio are represented in the emblem of the region Umbria.
